Shubham celebrated his 9th birthday a few weeks ago. For a party favor, I handed out pencils with an eraser on top. That is a rare thing for India. The only kind of pencils they have here are just wood, but no eraser on the end. It’s common in school for the children to have a pencil in one hand and eraser in the other. This was an exciting thing for the boys…to receive a pencil WITH an eraser! When Amanda was tucking in Rahul (age 6) , she asked what he was holding in his hand. She smiled when he said, "My pencil." He even slept with his in bed that night! I was shocked and humbled to give such a small gift and have the boys experience so much joy over it. May each of us be that thankful for even the littlest, smallest things God gives us each day.
