Twins?

This week I got out Clay's pumpkin costume that he wore when he was a little guy. And now, exactly 7 years later, we have a look-a-like brother. Only this time, Clay gets to sit behind and be the "spotter" in case Huds takes a dive.

The Detective

Clay has been interested in reading detective books lately, and decided to start his own business. His handwritten papers and signs make me smile. So far, he's 2 for 2 in solving his cases. Whenever he and Emma lose things (such as a walkie-talkie or silly band), he writes them down. Then they go looking, and he makes an x over it when it's found. Sounds easy enough, huh? So, if you lose something and need a detective, look no further. Clayton to the rescue!

Debbie's Salsa

My friend Debbie makes the most amazing salsa. She gave me the recipe and I just made it yesterday. It actually has no tomatoes, but tastes very fresh, like something you'd get at Baja Fresh. Make it according to taste:

Red, yellow, and orange pepper
Red onion
Cilantro
Corn
Black Beans
1/4 T. Olive oil
4 T. red wine vinegar
1 t. lime juice
1 clove garlic

Brown County

Yesterday we went to Brown County and tromped around in the crunchy fall leaves. The kids mostly ran ahead and led us down the trails. It was a beautiful fall day and fun to be together as our little fivesome. Hudson helped Jeff read the map. Clay bravely crawled across this log...

Brett and Brinnan

Our kids got to be flower girl and ring bearer in Brett and Brinnan's wedding over the weekend. Brett used to be in our youth group in Elkhart and for the past year we've lived close to him in Indy. He is like an uncle to our kids.

Clay and Emma were totally spoiled by this sweet couple, and loved being part of their big day. As Clay walked down the aisle and got close to the front, he gave Brett a big wink and a smile. A couple of my favorite photos of the kids:The reception was beautiful. Brinnan and her mom thought of everything, even the littlest details. The desserts and candies table was so pretty. Congrats, Brett and Brinnan! We love you guys!

On Sunday, Jeff ran the Chicago Marathon with my sister Amanda, and cousin Liza, along with 45,000 others. This is the view from Mom and Dad's apartment. When we woke up, we could see the runners in action on the street below. I loved Clay's handwritten sign to cheer for his daddy. It is so fun to cheer the runners on. Some of them wear costumes, while others have their name or country printed on their shirt. Probably the most unique was this man from France, running with his own Eiffel Tower. Looked pretty heavy and uncomfortable...
So proud of you three!

Once Upon a Kime Time

This past weekend, Jeff had the privilege of marrying some friends of ours, Justin and Stephanie Kime. Justin used to be in our youth group, met Stephanie at Butler University, and this past year we've been able to spend lots of time with them in our living room, talking about life and marriage. It was a beautiful outdoor ceremony at the Krippendorf Lodge in Cincinnati. Everything was picture perfect, from the weather, to the colorful fall leaves and the decor. As the night went on, everything just seemed to glow in a magical way. Justin and Steph, we are so happy for you!

Flashback

Fifteen years ago... Adam, Jason, Jeff, Dan, and Buddy met in college and became fast friends. They just came together last week for a few days to reconnect at Jeff's parents' house. They have so much fun together, but they also share with, pray for, and push each other to be godly men. I am incredibly thankful for this group and for the influence they've had in Jeff's life.

Pumpkins

We passed this adorable farm stand on the side of the road the other day. A few of the pumpkins made their way to our home to help bring some fall decor inside. I love the muted colors. Happy Fall!
