Does one project usually lead to another for you too? We found that we liked the second floor hardwoods refinished so much that we wanted to do the main floor too. So, that is our project this weekend. Our goal was to take the "red" stain out as much as possible and just get it to a more natural color.
Clayton gets some shop class with Daddy. He got to sand alone, which he was pretty excited about. Emma still needs to have Daddy hold the sander so it doesn't get away from her.
We let her do the shop vac alone and pretty soon I heard a frantic yell, "Mom, help!" It had attached itself to her jeans. Silly girl! I happened to have the camera in my hand, so I took a picture before I helped release her. Was that mean of me?
Jeff used the heavy duty sander for the majority of the floor. When he started using it, it revealed all kinds of ruts in the floor (from the former "floor specialist" who did the floors last time) that we hadn't anticipated. Thanks to Jen and Matt, our friends, who came over to save the day and help us sand out the problem areas!
Today we put on a second coat of polyurethane and we have two more to go. We are loving the results.
Monday is painting day and then I'll post some pictures of the "finished" room next week.

You guys are seriously amazing! Where did you put the piano while you were refinishing the floors? ("Super Jeff" probably held it up while Adrienne sanded under it real quick.)

The floors look gorgeous! We know how much work they can be though. We refinished all of ours before we moved in and it sometimes seemed like a never ending process. So happy for you guys. :)
